Posture has a major effect on the way in which the body works. Poor posture can affect the intestines, heart, lungs, stomach, brain, muscles, ligaments, vertebral discs and jaw to name a few.
We can all stand up straight but do you have true spinal posture- does your spine stand up well on its own without you thinking about it? All of you would have either started your journey with regular, consistent adjustments to change your body or your now maintaining your achievements and living the Chiropractic lifestyle.
The start of poor posture and pain...
Throughout life, we all experience BIG physical traumas such as falling over, and also micro traumas like sitting at a desk for hours. That’s life!.
Both types of physical trauma have the potential to create misalignments in the joints of your spine.
Some misalignments your body can correct by itself, some your body can not. Both types of misalignments place added stress and pressure on the surrounding joints, muscles and nerves of the spine.
Normally, the body will self correct these misalignments if possible. HOWEVER, if the misalignment is in a direction your body can not correct, we have a problem.
When your body cannot correct a problem it will compensate.
Much like if you have a stone in your shoe, you will walk differently to take pressure off this ‘injury’.
Each time your body compensates for a misalignment it can not fix, it begins to get more and more wound up and twisted.
Eventually your body has compensations on top of compensations, on top of compensations and begins to affect your posture and the way your spine holds itself up.
As a result your body becomes stiff, rigid, and movement becomes harder and often sets off alarm bells in the way of pain.
So, by removing the stiffness and rigidity not only will you will feel more mobile you’ll feel less pain and body parts will work more efficiently.
Your nervous system is one of the most important organs in your body, it really is the computer of your body. Everything in your body is controlled through your nervous system. The Chiropractic profession has for years, anecdotally, heard of stories from clients which have included many positive changes that are out with the realm of pain from the client. Research is now catching up with Chiropractic as funding is now being invested and the hunger for knowledge about the amazing effects of Chiropractic grows.
We’d like to introduce the ‘extra’ world of Chiropractic through a short video. These videos are produced by the head research department for Chiropractic in New Zealand, and they explain it better than I could, so here it goes….
